How to foster relationships

By

Hello friends, today we will be talking about the importance of fostering relationships. Whether it comes in the form of friendships, love, or family, making time for the connections you care about is extremely important.

Lately, for example, I have been reaching out more to those I don’t find myself reaching out to too often. Sometimes, we might feel like we are bothering others or that they simply don’t want to hear from us. These thoughts are wrong! It’s also a form of overthinking, and that is another topic of its own.

So, I have been spending more time with my family. I usually like to ask them questions to probe and really get into the meat of how they work, or why they choose to do the things they do. Sometimes they look at me with surprise and what can only be described as excitement.

You can tell they’ve been waiting to be asked these things and they take joy in answering them. I love doing that, letting them open up and share their little inner worlds. This is the same with friendships too.

One of my friends began to show me his artwork and talked about his reasoning behind his creations. I think the way you rekindle those kind of friendships, especially when it’s been awhile, is to just ask them questions and to nurture the part of them that caters to their purpose.

Another time I went to go see windchimes and have ice cream with a family member. They love windchimes and again, I found myself bonding over something that they enjoy. Of course, it’s great to talk about and do things that you both enjoy but for me, personally, when I want to make sure that the other person feels seen I like to cater to their passions.

Whether it’s their favorite show, favorite hobby, etc. I always ask questions and let them have that moment to open up about it. Who knows? In doing so you might learn something new yourself.

This is definitely something I needed to read. Thank you! Reaching to someone without overthinking it might be difficult but is a good idea. You never know if you don’t try. Taking an interesting by asking questions is something I love to do. I love know why people love the things they enjoy. It’s nice seeing how excited they get to talk about these things.
