On writing my first novel

By

Hello everyone, it has been awhile since my last post and the reason for that is I have been writing.

Yep. That’s it. Nothing else, no crazy life updates. Just writing.

Since I have finished my schooling, I have been using my time to write. You would think I could fit some time to work on the blog, but this is different.

I am working on my first novel, although it is a little bit scary to think about. I have confidence in the story and the characters. Because I know this will be taking up a lot of my time for the next year or so, I have decided to document the process.

I don’t know what the future holds. But I know that this is something special and important to me. Those two facts alone are why I have decided to talk about it in public more.

For awhile, I thought about keeping it under wraps. The only people I have told have been 3 people.

Although I won’t give too much away. I will say that the story is very personal and because of the nature of the story and how it connects with my own personal experiences, it has been difficult to write as well.

I have been consistent though. Averaging about 2,000 words a day. If everything goes according to plan, it should be ready to be queried by the end of the year.

That is where I am at. I am on the first rough draft which is at 40,585 words. The goal is around 80,000. Still a long way to go, but I am proud I have reached the halfway point. Something I had never thought would happen.

I will continue to update the blog on topics other than writing as well. But would like to discuss the novel writing process when I can too. I think it’s good to talk about the big and special moments in life, and I have a feeling this is one of those.

Thank you all for reading and visiting the blog, leave a comment when you do! I love comments ๐Ÿ™‚
