Hello everyone, happy new year! I hope you guys are having a great start to the year. For me, the new year has become a regular self-check in time, as well as a revamp.
For some people the idea of new year, new me sounds almost cringe, but I think it’s admirable to at least aspire to growth in the new year, as long as it’s something you will strive for.
It’s time for a new beginning and maybe even some new endings.
New beginnings come with new endings
As with new beginnings come the sheddings of old ways. I am not a huge sentimentalist so this is always something I look forward to.
I love getting rid of things or habits that I have outgrown. Optimizing your life continuously can be fun, it allows you to experiment with different ways of thinking and doing.
For some people though, it can be a little bit more challenging. Especially for those who find it hard to adapt to change. That is why it’s okay to shed or let go of things at your own pace.
Goals and expectations for a new year
My favorite part of this new beginning is making oodles of lists, deadlines, and goals for myself. I relish in this process. I try to hit every category: A health goal, a financial goal, a social goal, a personal goal, etc.
It might seem overwhelming to some but it’s really not. Of course, the goal is to hit every one, but really it’s being happy you have something to look forward to because at the end of the day isn’t that what life is all about?
One example, I only hit a handful of goals on my list last year. One of them being that I would be in the querying process by now (spoiler alert, I’m still in the editing phase), but that was alright because I reached my other goals (reading 52 books, graduating, getting a new car).
Reach for the moon! Even if you miss you’ll land among the stars
is a phrase I have heard of once before and it has always stuck with me. Be ambitious and try, because the sky isn’t even the limit of what you can accomplish in a year.
I hope this year is good to you all and that you find joy in the experiences and people you will meet along the way. I know I’ve met some amazing people as well.
