My July 2026 favorites

By

As promised, here are my favorites of July 2026! 🙂

Note: There’s a couple Spider-Man spoilers in here!

Loser by Tame Impala

I don’t know why I haven’t heard this song until recently on my Spider-Man: Brand New Day watch. This song plays during a scene where Peter Parker crashes a party. (I pray MJ and Peter get back together in the next film!)

I shazamed this song immediately after and played it for the past couple of days since. Once again, Tame Impala delivers again!

I’ve always been been a fan. My favorite song from them has to be Yes, I’m Changing; if my life had to be a Tame Impala theme song, it would definitely be that one, but this would be an honorable mention!

Midnight Sun by Stephenie Meyer

It seems like July was the month for nostalgia—or possibly the whole summer. I have spent the past couple months revisiting the Twilight Saga again.

I usually try to do a reread every couple years, my usual rotations are Twilight and The Hunger Games series. This month I got to finish Midnight Sun, which is basically Twilight but from Edward’s perspective.

The plot rarely deviates from Twilight since it is a retelling, but because Edward’s perspective is so rich (he’s a hundred year old vampire AND can read minds), it makes this story just as compelling as the original. If you’re a fan of the series I highly recommend it!

Also, in defense of Edward’s insane behavior throughout… I mean, what do you expect? He’s a vampire, it’s supposed to be dark.

Oh boy, so this app has been my saving grace. I have been trying to look for a good app that provides lessons in the punjabi language and was disappointed that the popular Duolingo did not offer it.

BUT, I came across this app which did offer punjabi lessons and it has been so easy to understand! One thing I could never really get behind with Duolingo—and still struggled with today—is the game aspect.

I don’t want to play a game, just to get a reward. I want the learning to be reward. Does that make sense?

Thankfully, there is no game aspect here, no coins to collect or leaderboards to keep track of, instead you get flashcards, grammar explanations, and easy to use lessons. What more could you ask for! 😌

Honorable Mention: The FIFA World Cup

So you know how half of my summer was comprised with reading and writing? Yeah, the other half was pure soccer. This global game happens every four years, where countries compete for the title of soccer world champions!

We saw so many new teams (since they expanded the number of qualified countries) there was some beautiful surprises—Curaçao and Cape Verde, I’m looking right at you! 😭 And some surprises as well, but all in all I was happy with the winner.

Congratulations to Spain! 🇪🇸 You played beautifully!
