The Twilight in concert experience

By

On the 21st of September I got to attend Twilight in concert. I wasn’t sure what to expect. Would they be singing the score? Or the songs on the film’s album?

All I knew was that it was Twilight (one of my comfort films), the concert would be close to my birthday (the 9th of October), and it would be a nice present as well as a great spooky thing to do (to kick off fall). It was a no brainer that I would go.

Why Twilight?

I get this question a lot. Why Twilight? Twilight has had an interesting reputation depending on who you talk to. For me, Twilight was the book that admittedly really got me into reading. A Series of Unfortunate Events was definitely the first that got me to read but Twilight was the series that made me become a lifelong reader.

The feeling I had as a 13/14 year old reading them for the first time was an experience like no other. I began to really understand the magic of reading. I became invested in the characters and the world made me thirst for more books like it.

The story meant a lot to me, and each time I watched or reread it, I would be swept away to that time. It held a lot of memories.

The Concert

As for the concert, it was incredible. I had bought my ticket in June and the concert was in September. So preordering your ticket would be ideal.

My show was sold out for example, which was surprising to me because I didn’t really consider it to be so popular in my location. I was seated in a box seat near the front, which was perfect for me since it was near the entrance and not too far away from the stage.

The concert did perform both score music and album music including the end credits. It was great to hear MUSE, Linkin Park, and Paramore music live.

We were also encouraged to be loud, sing along, scream, laugh, and just overall enjoy the concert as you would if you were seeing your favorite artist. I got lucky because my showing had a great audience. Everyone was super respectful, and also gave great reactions.

It was amazing to be a part of something like this. I went alone, but seeing so many people in groups wearing Twilight shirts made me feel so connected. I felt like I was with people like me, all enjoying something we loved.

Near the end, I felt kinda nostalgic. As someone who is very future focused, I find it hard to indulge in childhood memories or the past in general. But sometimes it’s okay to look back and enjoy it for what it was.

That being said, some people asked me if it was worth it. I would say yes, definitely. If you were or are a Twilight fan, then it is very worth it to watch with an audience! I recommend to also take a friend with you so you guys could hoot and holler together.

I found myself being too shy to really be loud, but I did laugh, smile, and cry quite a bit. Having someone with you could heighten the experience more. ☺️
