Does it matter where you write?

By

Hello guys! So I have been browsing around for the perfect coffee spot to sit down and write. I find it hard to edit in my own space, whether it’s the feng shui or the energy in the air, I feel a need to get out there and work.

I use to be someone who didn’t mind staying in and working but even now as I type this, cluttered desk and all, I don’t feel entirely enthusiastic to work on anything here. Maybe it’s the spring air or maybe it’s Maybelline, either way I am ready to be out and about.

There is something about coffee shops that kind of give home to study and work. I feel it’s because as soon as you whip out that laptop you’re obligated to sit and do something worthwhile.

Nobody goes to a coffee shop to watch Netflix.

Why coffee places?

That being said, I found that writing in a cafe has significantly helped me in the book editing process. I finished yet another chapter and this is a sign that I am heading in the right direction.

Although I am not the biggest coffee drinker (I genuinely think it tastes like licking a battery), I don’t mind having the occasional shaken espresso or latte. The jitters help keep me energized for awhile until I’ve exhausted most of my brain power.

Coffee shops are also very welcoming places, where community comes alive and people sit alongside you working on their own dreams and goals. It’s the kind of environment that helps keep me going.

Go where you thrive

There have been times where I have worked on the book at my workplace and made progress. I spend a week there and have an hour to kill might as well take my laptop and work on it while I can.

It’s all about finding the time and place to write (within reason). At the end of the day, go where you thrive the most. Where you can get the work done and hopefully someday get your work out there. 💫
