Hello everyone! Hope you have all been enjoying your holidays, I know I have. Today’s topic is about relationships and the many different ways they manifest.
The Transactional Relationship
What is a transactional relationship? A transactional relationship is when two people are in a relationship because the other person provides something that the other person needs or wants. It sounds like a regular relationship, right? Well, not quite.
In these relationships sometimes the thing that the person provides is the sole reason they are in the relationship to begin with. Some examples include relationships in which one person has status or money, and the other person provides looks and arm candy.
Sometimes the relationships can be more explicit through monetary means. Either way, the reason is simple, you give + take without any real emotional connection attached to it.
The Conditional Relationship
What would a conditional relationship look like? A conditional relationship is a little bit more personable than a transactional one. Conditional relationships are when two people have a mutual connection due to a general understanding.
Some example would be distant acquaintances, coworkers, perhaps classmates. There are no transactions being made within the relationship (at least not always) but the connection is almost never unconditional.
It’s a give and take relationship. You provide great work or support to a friend, and they do the same. It’s not always so strict or rigid. But again, the “conditions” are that you continue to be a great coworker or a great friend!
The Unconditional Relationship
Probably the most ideal kind of relationship to be in. What does this look like? We see it all the time. Dogs for example, love their owners unconditionally. Some parents love their children unconditionally.
In an unconditional relationship, there are no conditions, no transactions. Love is being freely given because the person loves you because you are you! The reason why I say this is so ideal is because we have all at one point wanted to be loved for the person that we are.
With no restrictions or limitations, no guidelines and no requirements. This is the happy and safe place where you don’t need to worry about the other person keeping score. They love you without any help from you.
All you need to do is exist.
Hope you guys have a great holiday!! Merry Christmas and stay safe! x ☺️🎄
