The World Cup is consuming my brain (help)

By

As anyone with a pulse knows, the World Cup is well underway. Videos and posts discussing the event on social media have intensified with watch parties and rivalries alike.

If you ask me who I’m rooting for, it’s always the underdogs. Some of my favorite teams have been smaller countries or those who haven’t won the cup. (Give them a chance Argentina!)

I have been fortunate enough to be able to watch almost every single game or at the very least watch extended highlights, check scores, and overall consume World Cup content.

The World Cup in America is genius

So many people hated this move by FIFA, but hear me out. It’s a great move (for the US), I know, the US doesn’t care about soccer (football). But having the tournament here has created interest in the sport alone.

I’ve seen so many US citizens discussing the games at length and it’s a completely different vibe than previous world cups. Why? Is it because the US seems to finally join the excitement? Definitely.

Whatever the reason, Americans (US) are starting to understand the love for the beautiful game

It doesn’t hurt that the US team is doing fairly well. It will be interesting to see how far they can get. With this year’s team having strong players like Captain America and Russell Crowe coaching (I kid), it’s looking good for team USA.

That being said, it’s been getting harder and harder to see eliminations. Especially as we exit the group stages. But hey, that’s showbiz or the way of the game as they say.

There are so many countries I am rooting for, who would you like to see lift the cup? 😀 Comment down below! ⚽️
